    Symptoms:
The scripts attached in the solution 4291 (http://kb.bakbone.com/4291) set the exceptions for only following pre-installed plugins (SOL79286 - How to set exceptions in the Windows Vista & Windows 2008 Server firewall necessary for Netvault Backup).

    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault Process Manager" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault\bin\nvpmgr.exe"
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault Statistics" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault\bin\nvstatsmngr.exe"
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault Core Plugin" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault\bin\nvcoreplg.exe"
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault File System Plugin" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault\bin\nvfs.exe"
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault Raw Device Plugin" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault\bin\nvraw.exe"
    ECHO All done!

When browsing the other plugins to either browse or configure will pop-up an error message "plugin died unexpectedly".

  • Resolution

Create another rule to allow incoming connection for the newly created plugins/APMs. Below shows an example of allowing incoming rule for the Exchange Server APM and SQL Server APM.

    Exchange
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault Exchange Server APM" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault Backup\bin\nvexchangeserver.exe"

    SQL
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="NetVault SQLServer APM" dir=in action=allow program="C:\Program Files (x86)\BakBone Software\NetVault Backup\bin\nvsqlserver.exe"
